Benefits to the Employer - Provides an available source of temporary employees during critical periods
- Provides employers the opportunity to select from students who have become familiar with industry practices through Academy programs
- Gives employers an opportunity to recruit for future employee pool
- Allows employers an opportunity to retain local talent within the area
- Employer receives intelligent, interested, skilled, diverse socio-economic interns at a minimal hourly wage ($7 - $12 an hour)
- Students are highly motivated to perform above expectation because in addition to receiving compensation for their work, they are also receiving a class grade for their participation. As a result of this, educators serve as a second line of supervision to make sure the experience is a positive one for all parties involved
Expectations of the Employer - The employer will provide a working environment for students that is similar to that which is offered to new hires
- To the degree necessary, the employer will provide training to student intern so that they are able to perform tasks and responsibilities to expectation
- Employers are expected to treat student interns as they would a new hire
- Employers are expected to submit a minimum of two work evaluations to the Academy of Finance director so that students can be graded on their work performance
- Employers will offer an hourly wage for interns between $7 12 per hour
