The Indiana CPA Educational Foundation and the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) would like to announce the application process for the 2006 Minority Student Scholarship program is under way. Two $1,500 sholarships will be awarder to qualified minority high school seniors enrolled in an Academy of Finance program in Indiana.
In order to qualify for this scholarship, upon graduation from high school students must attend an Indiana college or university, complete and submit an application form through your Academy of Finance Director, and meet the criteria outlined on the application. In addition, a letter of recommendation from a business professional must accompany the application. Applications are due to the National Association of Black Accountants by February 10, 2006.
A panel of judges consisting of practicing accounting or business professionals will review and select the two student applicants that match most closely the criteria and intended spirit of the Indiana CPA Educational Foundation's scholarship program. Announcement and disbursement of the two $1,500 scholarship awards will take place during the Academy of Finance Student Spring Conference on March 16, 2006 at the University of Indianapolis. Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program
Lilly Endowment Inc. awards full-tuition scholarships to students from each county in Indiana. These scholarships are awarded through and administered by the network of community foundations throughout the state. Independent Colleges of Indiana oversees the statewide administration of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program.
These four-year tuition scholarships are for undergraduate study in baccalaureate programs at any four-year college or university in the state. Required fees and an annual $800 book stipend are also included. Deadlines and selection procedures, as well as the criteria used for determining who is eligible for the scholarship, vary from county to county.
In all circumstances, applicants must be Indiana residents, must be graduates of accredited Indiana high schools, and must use the scholarship to earn a baccalaureate degree in Indiana. Students currently in high school should ask their counselors about applications for the program. Persons who have previously graduated from high school but who are now interested in attending college should contact their community foundation to determine whether they will be eligible based on local criteria. During the first six years of the program, 2,049 students have received Lilly Endowment Community Scholarships. Scholars are attending 42 different colleges in the state of Indiana.
